That is my most dreaded step as well, and I have one to face right now. Most often I spray baste which gives me the best success with shifting etc. as you mention. This one is going better, but I don't know that it's that much quicker. I feel like you have to be really careful to make sure there aren't lumps and bumps and then I spent 10 minutes washing my feet because they were all sticky and covered with batting fuzz!Nutsy Cocohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04942363769302691869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-449099347505249832.post-42980371125517335872013-03-20T09:17:53.919-04:002013-03-20T09:17:53.919-04:00I have a whole slew of flimsies waiting to be quil...I have a whole slew of flimsies waiting to be quilted, too! I'm a pinner, too - won't use the sprays because of the carcinogens in them. Folks have already mentioned more pins, and keeping the fabric spread flat in the sewing area - another thought - some machines let you play with the pressure of the foot itself. Does yours? If so, that may make a difference for you.Lynettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10424861624240818479noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-449099347505249832.post-252325034890636172013-03-20T09:16:39.925-04:002013-03-20T09:16:39.925-04:00I like making tops the best too. Sadly, I then moved away from her so I'm back to pinning and spraying.heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00247612074517816806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-449099347505249832.post-75700377912111519542013-03-20T08:19:15.822-04:002013-03-20T08:19:15.822-04:00Love all your quilt tops but particularly the firs...Love all your quilt tops but particularly the first one.<br />I used to spray baste but didn't like the smell so have shifted back to pinning. When I start quilting I removed the pins in the area where I am quilting (always starting in the middle) and then use my hands to gently pull either side to get a completely flat surface on which to quilt. Any uneveness always seems to work its way out to the edges.Little Island Quiltinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12861046636908606582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-449099347505249832.post-38118166484994740402013-03-20T08:13:16.873-04:002013-03-20T08:13:16.873-04:00Beautiful work!
