Onto the WIP list! I have been making some progress, although small in the last few weeks. Last I blogged about the mountain of quilt tops that need finishing.
1. Good Folks Supernova - basted. Since my last post, I have finished quilting a customer quilt and had all kinds of issues with basting so un-pinned it all and re-basted with spray. I cannot believe how everything just stayed put so much better! So I spray-basted my Good Folks Supernova quilt and I am hoping it will work just as well.
Here is the backing of my Supernova quilt....LOVE this fabric from IKEA!
This next quilt top is something I should have done a LONG time ago...sad to say. It's a project that I had totally forgotten about until recently and I can't believe I am so long in getting this done, or that I forgot about it, omw!! It's a signature quilt from a friend's wedding. Guests signed their names on squares of white cotton and I was going to whip it together into a quilt. Here we are almost 4 years later and it's finally a quilt top. This one is super-high priority to get finished asap. I thought I would go with the heart theme I have fallen in love with in the last couple of months. Her wedding colors were 2 shades of pink, which ALWAYS makes me think of Steel Magnolias "blush and bashful"...if you don't know what I'm talking about we can't be friends anymore :o) So I pulled a bunch of pink from my stash and went to town making this in less than 4 hours.
No progress has been made on the other 6 quilts on my last WIP list. *sigh*
Linking up with Lee at Freshly Pieced...so many great projects!!
I love both of your projects! I'm having an IKEA numbers fabric moment myself. Backing for three baby quilts in progress!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful projects! I love blush and bashful :)
ReplyDeleteBoth ideas are very nifty! The Supernova quilt has so much life!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely quilts!
ReplyDeleteOMG I love that Supernova quilt. Did you use a pattern? I love the way you used the low volume background with those great pops of color. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteAs soon as you wrote two shades of pink I instantly thought of steel magnolias! Your work looks lovely, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteShanna, I love the wedding quilt. What a clever idea -- and, hello?!?! Pink!!
ReplyDeleteI love everything! I am obsessed with the numbers fabric. It looks so good on the back of your supernova. Plus the heart quilt is looking pretty awesome, I am sure it is worth the wait. Plus, not they will get to see those signatures again and it will be like reading them for the first time!
ReplyDelete"If you can't say something nice, come sit by me!"
ReplyDeleteBest. Movie. Ever.
How gorgeous is your supernova! I always spray baste ; ) enjoy the quilting
ReplyDeleteYour supernova is so awesome! I hope I am able to get to IKEA for some of the backing fabric before it is gone (closest store is 7 hours from here). Your heart quilt is great too!
