WIP Wednesday

I cannot believe I have so many projects that are just hanging around unfinished!!  Apparently I am way more inclined to be making tops than finishing any of them.  So, I currently have 7 tops that need to be quilted, oy.  I think it has more to do with the fact that I hate to baste, as does almost everyone else!

Speaking of....how do y'all baste your quilts??  I have tried spraying, but pinning is always what I go back to.  But lately, I've had issues with my pinned quilts shifting layers while quilting and I have no idea why....I tape the backing taut, use lots of pins, no puckers while pinning, etc.  Very frustrating!  Suggestions are greatly appreciated!!
Here are my current WIPs:

1.  Chicopee spiderweb quilt ~ this one is basted, hoping it doesn't have issues with quilting!!

 2.  Brrr! quilt ~ top done, needs to be basted, quilted, etc.

.

3.  Branson's Chargers quilt ~ needs to be basted, quilted, etc.  Need a MUCH bigger floor for this one, cuz this one is huge.

4.  Scrappy trip along ~ needs to be ironed, basted, quilted

5.  Single Girl quilt ~ needs to be basted, quilted, etc

6.  Love quilt ~ needs to be basted, quilted

 7.  My newest WIP, Good Folks Supernova ~ needs to be basted, quilted

This last one is my favorite ♥
I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Good Folks Supernova

Hey all!  It has been pretty quiet on the ole blog lately and I miss it!!  I have been up to a lot of different things but not much crafty.  I am running a 5K in 3 weeks (signed up AND paid so no backing out!!), super excited/nervous/anxious/hopeful!  A friend of mine and I are running together, so that's going to be awesome.  We're flirting with maybe running a half marathon in June....but I am not so sure.  I started training for it, but we'll see!  Running 13 miles is nuts, right??  Anyway, that's what I've been up to mostly.  I started blogging about my exercise and weight loss here, if you wanna read about my insanity :o)

Today's post is really about my newest quilt top...the Good Folks Supernova.  I got the pattern from this book.  Been in love with it for a while now, just didn't have an idea of what fabrics to use.  So, I broke out my hoarded stash of Good Folks.  I ♥ this fabric collection!!  I wish they would reprint it like they did with Flea market fancy.  Anyway, I also wasn't sure about the background fabric either, whether to go with a solid (my usual) or outside the box with a low volume arrangement.  I apologize in advance for all the pictures but I couldn't help it!!

Used a ton of "low volume" favorites

One of my fave fabrics!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!  It was 80 degrees here yesterday but back to 50 today...hoping for great weather for the 5K!

LOVE Quilt

I started this post on Saturday, but life got in the way and I couldn't finish it....and today I am just in a funk.  I feel like so many things are going wrong around me and it's throwing me for a loop.  I looked at this quilt again today and it brings a smile to my face.

I bought this pattern back a few weeks ago and just couldn't get it out of my mind.  Last summer I got these bright charms from Connecting Threads...thought they would be perfect for this project!  I altered the pattern a bit, just to use up all the charms, then assembled it completely backwards.  Hey, it was REALLY late....no wonder none of the strips lined up.  I had to trim a ton off the top and bottom.  It was a good thing I had pre-planned to have extra negative space, cuz it went in the trash with the trimming...oh well, that's what I get for sewing at 3 in the morning.

So here is the finished top, freshly pieced and ironed.  The colors are so vibrant, too.  I used Kona Ash for the neutral.  Turns out I really like that shade of grey.  I am planning to put this baby on the wall in my hallway, in the middle, then pictures of the family all around it.
