Didn't really realize how big this was getting until my girlies held it up for me...looks so much smaller on the ground!
A few things I have noticed about this quilt is how heavy it is. It's a LOT heavier...I assume because of the extra thread, seam allowances, pieces, etc. I am going to LOVE sleepin under this one!
I also think I am going to use wool batting for this for 2 reasons. I hear it quilts like butter, a good thing since I'm nuts and am planning to hand-quilt this thing also. Another reason is it's just super warm and I am ALWAYS freezing. Has anyone ever used this before?
Still haven't started my Single Girl *sigh* I'm linking up to Lee's at Freshly Pieced:
Beautiful! Miss you girlie! Let's have some girl time soon!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt...I wouldn't put a border I think just trim your stars and go with it. Also the wool batting is a great choice it makes the quilt softer and it's warm in the winter but cool in the summer! Hand quilting...you are brave!
ReplyDeleteThat's incredible!! I have a hand sewn quilt on my bucket list and now I remember why. The colors are perfect and it's huge! As for finishing... the extra gray diamonds to fill in the gaps would look nice. Maybe test the size on your bed to see if you want the extra inches or not? As I write that I'm thinking it would be hard to the cut the stars, right? And I have used wool. It's a dream to quilt and your right about it being the perfect dead of winter quilt then too!
ReplyDeleteI like the gray diamonds idea- no clue about wool batting though. What a beautifully down top! Takes guts to hand quilt that monster
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful quilt, you have put so much work into it! It is going to be so warm and cozy to curl up under. I can't want to see your hand quilting on it! Thank you for linking up to WIP Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing :) I would make half stars. I did an EPP star quilt last year and tried a few layout. Half stars worked the best (http://my-quilts.blogspot.dk/2011/10/quilt-festival-quilt-my-biggest.html)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely worth all the work because it's looking amazing!
ReplyDeletePost about this as often as you like; ) lovely
ReplyDeleteWow, that is just beautiful! Good luck finishing it!
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, WOW!! Fantabulous through and through. I think it would look awesome if you could fill the edges out to a straight gray line. However you do it, though, it's going to be a wonderful heirloom quilt.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you have posted about it again because I'm a new follower and am just seeing it for the first time! Very lovely, thanks for sharing your hard work!
ReplyDeleteYou're going to hand-quilt? Wow! Will it be ready for winter? :)
