Yes...posting about this quilt again :o) I had originally decided to hand-quilt this one, but I think my impatience is going to win out. I sat down last night to start, but I just don't have the patience...this coming from the girl who hand-pieced a quilt that is almost 90 inches square. Anyway, am I going to ruin this by machine quilting it?? Is it weird that there is a little bit of guilt involved, like I'm taking the easy way out??
Don't feel guilty my dear. I hand pieced a quilt that took me over two years. It had over 8000 pieces. I was soo happy to give it to the quilter so it could be done!

Ditto, do not feel guilty for not hand quilting your quilt. You are the one who is going to live with and love your quilt. If you decide not to hand quilt then I say go for it. The bottom line with every quilt no matter how it is pieced is that you do and I stress do what pleases you. It can be just as beautiful machine quilted as hand stitched. After all beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. Do what you want! And enjoy the end result of a beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteQuilting is supposed to be fun and relaxing, not guilt inducing! :-).
ReplyDeleteI would not feel guilty. Quilt how you like it! That's what quilting is all about. Your quilt turned out beautiful...I can't believe you had the patience to hand piece all of that. Awesome job! Can't wait to see it finished up.
ReplyDeleteI understand how you feel. I would feel the same way. Kinda guilty for some unexplanable reason. Think about the quilt afterwards. Will you have regretted that you didn't hand quilt it? Is it something that you can pick up and work on in the evenings over the winter if you aren't in a rush to finish it? If you won't regret it, than go ahead and machine stitch away. If you aren't sure, put it away for a couple of weeks and think about it. That's my .02
