Groove is Finished!!

I finally finished the Groove quilt I started for the hubs about a year ago!! and just in time for Christmas!!  I forgot to post about this before the holidays, such a busy time.  Branson chose this pattern and the colors to match the San Diego Chargers...I'm convinced this is how they made it to the play offs this year...it's the ONLY way, for real.  We have stunk it up this season.  Anyway!  I loved making this quilt!

The only thing about this pattern is that each size is oversized, which is plainly stated on the patter, but I had no idea the size would be such an issue with piecing the backing, quilting, wrangling that thing through a machine.  I ended up quilting it on a long-arm machine at a local quilt shop.  It was my first experience and I loved it!  My next big purchase, when I hit the lotto, is to buy one!

Thanks for letting me share!

Finish It Friday!!

The nice thing about working on a quilt that is smaller than I'm used to, is it comes together so much faster! The finished size of this one is 53 x 53.  Last night, when I should have been working on my 100 Day Hustle list, I was quilting and finishing Deco Shimmer.  I ♥♥♥ this quilt pattern and how it turned out.  I want to make a queen sized one soon, but AFTER I finish my other list!

I quilted in all of the white and just left the cheddar unquilted.  I really love how it makes the design pop!  I will be taking some pics tomorrow with better lighting :o)

I really love using a contrasting color for the binding.  The binding is Kona Glacier.  Love how it matches the Summer Love fabrics on the back, too!

My First Quilt

I came across this quilt the other day...and decided I needed to blog about this one!  This is my very first quilt...the one that started the madness.

I made it the summer I was preggo with Dayna (7 years ago now).  I was teaching in our school's K-4 and had all naptime, all summer to work on it.  I bought this Carebear fabric at Walmart, as well as the backing fabric, and just started cutting and sewing!  I wanted to make this for Emma, as a present from the new baby.  Anyway, it has been snuggled, hauled weekly to school for naps while Emma was in daycare-Kindergarten, washed a gillion times, and now the binding is starting to fall apart and it's so thin you can see right through it.

I will never "fix" this quilt, though....it's just too special the way it is!
